Margot Robbie to star in ‘Gotham City Sirens’
This time, it’s “Harley Quinn” who’s leading the anti-hero gang.
Margot Robbie will reprise her psychotic and devilish role in “Gotham City Sirens,” a “Suicide Squad” spin-off dedicated to DC’s villainesses, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
David Ayer will direct the film, while Robbie herself will serve as the project’s executive producer. The film’s plot, based on the 2009 comic book of the same name, narrates the thrilling quests of female characters Quinn, Catwoman and Poison Ivy. Meanwhile, Geneva Robertson-Dworet will write the movie’s script.

Robbie pitched the idea of a sequel starring Joker’s psychotic love interest, following the worldwide success of “Suicide Squad” starring Robbie, Will Smith, Jared Leto and Joel Kinnaman. Aside from “Gotham City Sirens,” an earlier-planned “Suicide Squad 2” and a spin-off featuring Deadshot, Batman’s opponent played by Will Smith, are scheduled to start filming next year.
Despite negative reviews from film critics, “Suicide Squad” was one of the highest-grossing films this year, amassing $700 million (P33.4 billion) in global revenues. Correspondingly, Harley Quinn became a much admired heroine, with many people cosplaying her iconic costume and imitating her makeup. Gianna Francesca Catolico
