A blind Filipino songstress made it to the grand finals of a French talent show after rendering with moving emotion a famous song written by a French Academy Award-winning composer, leading one of the judges to weep.
Katchry Jewel Golbin, known by her stage name “Alienette Coldfire,” awed the judges and audience of “La France a un Incroyable Talent” (France Has Incredible Talent) on Tuesday night. She sang her stirring audition piece “Le Moulins de mon Coeur,” composed by Michel Jean Legrand.
Female judge Hélène Ségara felt Alienette’s emotions and wept. She promised Alienette a chance to duet with Legrand himself. The three male judges–Eric Antoine, Gilbert Rozon and Kamel Ouali–lauded her for her striking vocals and passionate presence onstage.

Joining the Filipina contestant in the season’s finale are French magician duo Tony and Jordan, and dancer Mario Espanol.
Golbin, who became an internet star after she was filmed belting out Mariah Carey’s “I’ll Be There” at a mall, also sang “La Vie en Rose” by Edith Piaf during one of the auditions.
