Not just a cameo for AlDub

Vic Sotto is aiming for a spot at this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), after all—with AlDub’s Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza in tow.

Earlier this month, Alden and Maine were spotted in Bohol, one of “Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers’” shooting locations, sparking rumors that the popular love team would be part of the fantasy-adventure flick. Vic confirmed that the two will indeed make an appearance, but not in key roles.

“It is more than a cameo. They did four or five scenes,” revealed Vic, fondly called “Bossing,” adding that filming for this particular installment of the “Enteng” franchise has been the toughest in the series. “But we definitely had fun.”

Seasoned actor, host

In June, the seasoned actor-television host said there was a chance he would not be able to join the annual event—which would have been a first in many years—because he knew that it would nearly be impossible, given the recent changes in the festival’s selection process.

Producers were initially required to submit completed movies by the end of September. But when the deadline was moved to Oct. 31, Vic decided that it could be worth the shot. He and the production team had been shooting “Enteng” for the past few months.

“Had the September deadline stood, we wouldn’t be able to do it, because the production is big. I cannot do a movie in a month…We need more time,” he told reporters in a brief interview at his recent launch as the new endorser of Chooks-to-Go.

No guarantee

Completing the movie before the deadline, however, does not guarantee a slot in the final lineup, which will be decided upon by the MMFF committee.

“Hopefully, we finish the project on time. Then, I am praying we get chosen as one of the entries,” he said.

During their shooting in Bohol, Vic and his wife, Pauleen Luna, snuck in some leisure time and enjoyed the beaches of Panglao. Going on trips, he said, can be “therapeutic.”

“We have always loved traveling, whether it is out of the country, or a simple road trip to Bataan, Subic or somewhere in the south. We even sing while we are at it,” he related. “It is our way of getting away from it all. We do not want our lives to be all work.”

And as for the undying questions about having a baby with Pauleen, the comedian quipped, “Relax lang!”
