In the new psychological thriller, “The Disappointments Room,” Kate Beckinsale plays an architect who leaves the city and moves into an old mansion with her husband and young son.

She needs to move on from a painful past, but instead experiences unsettling visions and dreams. She discovers a secret room, and the more she tries to unlock its mystery, the more terrifying her psychological or paranormal experiences become.

The thriller/chiller opens on Oct. 5.
