Zendaya Coleman to play ‘Mary Jane’ in latest Spider-Man film
Zendaya Coleman, a Disney Channel teen star, will play Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker’s love interest in the much-awaited Spider-Man movie “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
According to reports from entertainment news sites The Wrap and Vulture, the 19-year-old actress will cast alongside Britsh actor Tom Holland, who was selected to portray the young Peter Parker. If confirmed, she will be the first actress African-American to play the iconic role previously played by Kirsten Dunst.
Last March, film studio company Sony Pictures and Marvel named Coleman to play a minor character, Michelle, in the film’s superhero reboot. The film will be produced by Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige.

Coleman started her acting career as Rocky Blue in the Disney Channel sitcom “Shake It Up” and as K.C. Cooper in “K.C. Undercover.”
