John Lloyd Cruz is one of three honorees of the Star Asia award, to be given during the 15th New York Asian Film Festival in the United States, from June 22 to July 5.

The first Filipino and Southeast Asian actor in the honor roll, John Lloyd will receive the award along with South Korea’s Lee Byung-hun and Hong Kong’s Miriam Yeung this year.

“I’m looking forward to the New York fest,” said John Lloyd, who will attend the festival for the screening of his film, Erik Matti’s “Honor Thy Father.” It will be shown with two other Filipino movies (Ralston Jover’s “Hamog” and Mario Cornejo’s “Apocalypse Child”).

Another Filipino, teen actress Therese Malvar, will receive the New York fest’s Screen International Rising Star Asia award. She will also grace the screening of her film, “Hamog,” in the fest. Bayani San Diego Jr.
