LOOK: 1D’s Harry Styles’ new hair style for first movie role

A new haircut is tantamount to a new career.

Hardcore fans of British boy band One Direction (1D), or ‘Directioners’ as they call themselves, fell madly in love with the signature long hair of vocalist Harry Styles.

But just last week, Directioners were startled to see social media photos of his locks chopped, suspecting that Styles is taking his solo career seriously since his abandonment from 1D last February.

Styles’ new hairstyle is a swept back, clean cut – and he ‘s doing it for an upcoming role as a ‘Tommy’, or a World War II soldier in a film entitled “Dunkirk”. According to The Guardian, Christopher Nolan, the film’s director, persuaded the former 1D star to let go of his flowing curls and achieve a handsome ‘mature look’.

Styles donated his locks to the Little Princess Trust, a United Kingdom-based organization designing wigs for children who lost their hair due to chemotherapy.

The former 1D vocalist will co-star with Irish actor Sir Kenneth Branagh and British playwright Mark Rylance in the upcoming film portraying the evacuation of Allied soldiers in the city of Dunkirk, France. “Dunkirk” will begin filming this May.

This will be Styles’ first appearance in a theatrical release.

In February, Styles walked out of 1D’s Modest Management and moved to Jeffrey Azoff at Full Stop Management, created last March. Gianna Francesca Catolico
