Amalia Fuentes had a stroke, say Martinez grandchilden
In a statement, Amalia Fuentes’ grandchildren—Alyanna, Alfonso and Alissa Martinez—have confirmed that the movie queen had suffered “an ischemic stroke on Oct. 9, while vacationing in South Korea.”
They recalled that she was fortunately discovered by a friend in her hotel room in time and was “immediately rushed to a hospital in Seoul, where she was placed in an intensive care unit.”
Three weeks later, the Martinezes recounted, “her Korean doctors allowed her to travel back to the Philippines since her condition had stabilized already.”
On Oct. 27, when she arrived in Manila, an ambulance parked on the tarmac was waiting for her.
From the airport, she was brought “straight to a Metro Manila hospital where she is currently receiving the best care possible.”
