MJ Lastimosa: ‘Miss Universe is a friendly, beautiful competition’

MANILA, Philippines—Miss Universe 2014 Philippines bet Mary Jean “MJ” Lastimosa on Thursday urged Filipinos to move on from the results as the Miss Universe is a “friendly and beautiful” competition.

“To all those who have negative feedback on the pageant, let us be happy. It is a happy competition, it’s a beautiful pageant. We’re just supposed to celebrate the beauty of the all the nations,” Lastimosa said in her homecoming press conference on Thursday.

Lastimosa also wished that her countrymen would be satisfied with the competition’s outcome.

“Let us just be happy for the winners. Let us just be happy for the experience given to all the girls,” the beauty queen added.

She added that she was able to forge lasting friendships with other contestants despite vying for the coveted crown.

“We showed that we can be in one competition and make friends,” she said.

Lastimosa failed to land in the final five of the Miss Universe 2014 competition held at Doral City, Florida last Monday (Philippine time). Paulina Vega from Colombia was crowned Miss Universe. AJH
