MANILA, Philippines—“Definitely, absolutely, it’s your loss.”

That was said in jest by veteran television reporter and radio anchor Doris Bigornia on Monday as she reacted to being “friendzoned” by President Benigno Aquino III.

In the rare one-on-one interview with Vice Ganda which aired Sunday, the President revealed that he could only be a friend to the television reporter, nothing more.

“Umabot na kami sa friends na lang ang status,” Aquino said jokingly in the interview.

In her radio program on dzMM, Bigornia joked that she is used to being friendzoned.

“Medyo masama lang ang aking kalooban kasi pagkatapos akong indyanin ni Chris Brown, biglang frinendzone lang naman ako ng pangulo lang naman ng Pilipinas. Sanay na akong iniiwan (I am a bit hurt because after Chris Brown did not show up, I was then friendzoned by the President of the Philippines. I’m used to being abandoned),” Bigornia said.

She even dedicated a song in honor of their “failed” romance.

“Kay PNoy, sayang ang theme song sana natin ay ‘Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang Dumating’ (To PNoy, our theme song would have been ‘Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang Dumating’),” Bigornia said.

On her Twitter account, Bigornia said that she lost her chance to become the first lady of the country.

“Dreams shattered. Hindi pala ako puwedeng maging first lady. Huhubels (Dreams shattered. Now, I cannot be the first lady. Huhubels),” she posted on her official Twitter account on Sunday.

Aquino also said in the interview that Bigornia could not be considered as his “every time friend” because of the hard-hitting criticisms she hurl toward his administration.

Merriam Webster Dictionary defines “friendzone” as “a platonic friendship between two people one of whom wants the relationship to be romantic.” AJH
