Son wants non-biz GF for Piolo
IÑIGO: “Dad needs someone who will help him lead a private life, which he deserves.”
Iñigo Pascual, who just joined show biz via the coming-of-age movie, “Relaks, It’s Just Pag-ibig,” is ready to try anything, even if it means dealing with intrigues.
The son of matinee idol Piolo Pascual says he acquired lifelong training in that department by merely observing his dad.
As for people comparing them, the younger Pascual said, “I’m more musically inclined than my dad [and] I also dance better.”
However, Iñigo admits, “Iba pa rin ang Piolo Pascual, maraming babae ang nagpaparamdam.”
The 17-year-old turns serious when asked about his estranged parents. His mom, Donnabelle Lazaro, lives in the United States.
Iñigo works with Sofia Andres, Julian Estrada and Ericka Villongco in “Relaks, It’s Just Pag-ibig,” a collaboration by Antoinette Jadaone and Irene Villamor. Produced by Spring Films and distributed by Star Cinema, the film will be screened in theaters nationwide starting Nov. 12.
You grew up in the US. Are you in Manila for good?
I plan to go back there to study in a normal school. I’m currently homeschooled. This is just a gap. I just wanted to have a taste of show biz.
Your dad was reluctant to let you. What is he saying now?
He says to just enjoy, and make sure I have time for him while I’m here. He says I can join show biz full-time after high school.
What’s the score between you and Sofia?
There’s something between us, for sure, but we’re not prioritizing that; we’re both very young.
Did you miss your father while you were growing up?
I wouldn’t say that. He was always there for important events.
Do you have requirements for his would-be girlfriend?
I want him to be happy with someone not from show biz, someone who will help him lead a private life. He deserves that.
What is your dad’s advice about girls?
We always joke about that and never had a serious discussion. He does say girls don’t come in perfect packages, and I should look for someone who will make me happy.
And what kind of girl will make you happy?
I’d like her to be simple, unaffected and not high maintenance. I’d like someone willing to do extreme things, like travel to Africa with me.
Do you have a crush in local show biz?
I like Anne Curtis because of her eyes and sexy lips. She doesn’t know this. She’s the crush ng bayan, so I don’t think it will matter to her.
