Rachelle Ann Go, Lea Salonga sing ‘Miss Saigon’ duet

MANILA, Philippines—Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga and singer Rachelle Ann Go performed a duet last Monday in London for a special gala performance of the musical “Miss Saigon”.

Go and Salonga sang “The Movie in My Mind”, eliciting cheers and a standing ovation from the audience.

Salonga is the original Kim of “Miss Saigon” in London’s West End in 1989, while Go is playing the role of Gigi in the 2014 run of “Miss Saigon” also in West End.

The gala performance of the musical was in celebration of the 25th anniversary of “€Miss Saigon,” a musical by Claude Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil which depicts the tragic love story between an American lieutenant and a Vietnamese bar girl during the Vietnam-US War.

Go gushed about the performance in her Instagram account saying, “I am still overwhelmed! Last night was just phenomenal. I still could not believe I was part of the 25th anniversary of Miss Saigon. God is amazing!”

“Thank You.. To Ms. Lea Salonga who asked me 2 years ago if I was going to audition for Miss Saigon, salamat po… I didn’t imagine we are going to share a West End stage.. Haaay… You are an inspiration.. I will forever be grateful to all the people who helped me reach my dreams. Yes, dreams do come true…” Go added.
