Japanese film fest goes to Cebu, Davao

MANILA, Philippines — After a successful run at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall, the 2014 “Eiga Sai” or Japanese Film Festival will go to Cebu City in Visayas and Davao City in Mindanao to screen several films including the Cannes Jury Prize winner “Like Father, Like Son.”

The launch of the festival held in Shangri-La Plaza kicked-off the Philippines-Japan Friendship Month for July and was attended by around 11,000 people.

Sixteen Japanese contemporary films were screened during the launch including the “2014 Festival de Cannes Jury Prize” award-winning film “Like Father, Like Son” (Soshite chichini

naru) by director Hirokazu Kore-eda.

Hirokazu is the globally acclaimed director of “Nobody Knows” (2004), “Still Walking” (2008) and “I Wish” (2011),” the statement said.
