MANILA, Philippines—One of the members of popular boy band One Direction took to twitter his apology following his bandmate’s leaked video in which showed them smoking what appeared to be marijuana.

Liam Payne, although not caught on the video smoking the alleged substance, posted on his Twitter account his apology to their fans, saying “they (members) have gone a little sideways.”

In another post, Payne said they have “a lot of growing up to do” and hoped they would be able to surpass the controversy.

He also thanked their fans for their continued support.

On May 27, a video showing members of One Direction smoking what appeared to be marijuana inside a sports utility vehicle (SUV) started going viral.
