Valentine’s Day faceoff between Navarro, Cornejo looms

MANILA, Philippines–Comedian and TV host Vhong Navarro and Deniece Cornejo may face each other at the Department of Justice on Valentine’s Day.

This, after the DOJ’s panel of investigators issued a subpoena ordering Cornejo, Cedric Lee, his sister Bernice, Ferdinand Guerrero, and Zimmer Rance to appear at the DoJ on Feb. 14, 2pm.

The subpoena is for Navarro’s complaint for serious illegal detention, serious physical injury, grave threats, grave coercion, illegal arrest and blackmail.

They are also ordered to submit counter-affidavit.

Members of the investigating panel Assistant State Prosecutors Olivia Torrevillas, Hazel Decena-Valdez and Mari Elvira Herrera.

A case for rape has been filed by Cornejo against Navarro, which Prosecutor General Claro Arellano ordered consolidated with the case of Navarro and will be handled by the same panel of prosecutors.

However, there is no information if both cases will be heard on the same date. Records of Cornejo’s complaint are still with the Taguig Prosecutors Office.
