MANILA, Philippines — The saga goes on and more characters are revealed.
Rodrigo Cornejo, the granduncle of Deniece Cornejo, broke his silence to defend his grandniece who is in the mix of the brouhaha of the Vhong Navarro-Cedric Lee mauling incident.
“Why should I keep quiet? It’s about time (for people) to know who she is,” Cornejo said.
The older Cornejo, who is a retired high-ranking official in a television station, said in an interview that he believes what his grandniece has said.
“He (Navarro) attempted to rape her, and I believe her,” Cornejo said in a television interview.
He said that his grandniece’s accusations of Navarro were all true.
“I looked her straight in the eye, then I asked her ‘Are the charges true?’ she said ‘Yes, Lolo.’”
Cornejo added that his grandniece and Lee do not hold any relationships aside from their friendship.
In the middle of the drama, Cornejo said he felt bad both for Deniece who was already labelled as a “bad girl” and Deniece’s father who is in the United States.
