A makeover treat by beauty queens

FOUR LUCKY moms got an early Mother’s Day treat from four Binibining Pilipinas beauties this week at the Gateway Mall in Quezon City.

Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Shamcey Supsup, Binibining Pilipinas-Tourism Isabella Manjon and first and second runners-up Janine Tugonon and Mary Jean Lastimosa tapped their sense of style as they created summer looks for the women selected via Araneta Center’s Facebook promo.

Araneta Group’s digital marketing officer Ana Alicia Amistad said the makeover themes were “Fun in the Sun” and “Casual Chic.”

Like a race

Clothes and accessories from Promod were used for the first theme; Espada provided items for the second. The shoes were from Celine. The ladies also received hair and makeup tips from the beauty queens and lens man Juan Benjamin Janeo photographed them at the Oasis, also at the Gateway Mall.

“It felt like being on the ‘Amazing Race,’” said Supsup, 23, an architect. “We had 45 minutes to shop.”

Manjon, 24, a nurse, said she’d had some practice with her own mother: “My mom appreciates it when I give her advice on what to wear.”

Tugonon found her fashion sense tested while making over her assigned “model.” Her own mom is a “very simple” woman, she said, “who seldom dressed up.”

Lastimosa was the last to finish with hair and makeup, as she made sure not a single strand of hair was out of place.

The makeover photos will be exhibited at the Gateway Mall today, Mother’s Day. Shoppers will be asked to choose the best makeover, giving one mom the chance to take home P5,000 in cash plus other prizes. The three others will get consolation prizes.
