GMA 7 premieres 6 new shows

THIS month, GMA 7 premieres six new programs and airs this year’s highly anticipated boxing match.

Replacing top-rating Koreanovela “The Baker King” is “Secret Garden,” a story of two very different people who learn to understand each other through a magical phenomenon that switched their bodies. The series, which premiered May 2, airs weeknights after “I Heart You Pare” on the network’s Telebabad block.

Today, the network airs the exclusive coverage and behind-the-scenes footage of the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley fight.

Premiering tomorrow (Monday) is the pioneering family drama “Munting Heredera,” which airs weeknights on the Telebabad block. Top-billed by veteran actress Gloria Romero, it tackles the universal issues of love, family and life. It also stars Roderick Paulate, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Camille Prats, Katrina Halili, Mona Louise Rey, Kyle Daniel Ocampo and Barbara Miguel.

“Blusang Itim,” the ’80s movie originally top-billed by Snooky Serna and written in comics by Elena Patron, premieres early afternoon on May 16. Set in the dazzling yet cruel world of fashion, the series depicts a young woman’s struggle because of her physical appearance. It stars Kylie Padilla, Frank Magalona and Winwyn Marquez, Carl Guevarra, Gary Estrada, Rita Avila, Jackielou Blanco and Marissa Delgado.

A series based on another movie classic, “Andres de Saya,” stars Cesar Montano as macho man Andres and Iza Calzado as his darling Matilde. It airs Saturdays starting May 28.

“Sisid,” an underwater story about pearl-diving, greed and innocent love, premieres on May 30 on the afternoon drama block. The series features Jackie Rice, Dominic Roco and JC Tiuseco.

“Amaya,” an epic series about a woman blessed with superpowers, starts airing May 30. It stars Marian Rivera, with Glaiza de Castro, Sid Lucero, Mikael Daez and Rochelle Pangilinan.

Another Koreanovela to premiere this May is “Playful Kiss,” a story based on a popular Japanese manga. It tells of how a beautiful yet clumsy girl, played by Jung So Min, gets close to a perfect but cold-hearted guy, portrayed by Kim Hyun Joong, with the help of one playful kiss.

“My Chubby World,” a kiddie show hosted by Renz Valerio, Zyrael Jestre, Daniela Jessica Amable and Gianne Cutler, airs Saturdays starting May 14. It features seven top things kids are very much interested in.

Also to watch out for is “Sabadabadog,” an educational show for children scheduled to premiere late this month, to be hosted by Tonipet Gaba and four friendly mascots.
