‘Torete’ singer Acel Bisa to migrate to Netherlands

Former Moonstar88 vocalist Acel Bisa recently announced that she’ll be starting a new life with her family in the Netherlands next year.

The OPM singer announced on her social media pages that she will be holding a farewell show as a way of paying homage to her journey.

“It is bittersweet as I announce that I’ll be starting a new life with my family in the Netherlands early next year. I don’t intend this as a farewell, but rather as a fitting homage to the family, friends, and colleagues who have contributed to my journey over the years,” she wrote in her caption.

Bisa underscored that honoring her time as an artist in the Philippines would give way for her to make space for the new life that awaits her abroad.

“The baggage that comes with leaving reminds us of places, people, and memories that truly matter, even in the grand scheme of things. As I make space for new beginnings and experiences, part of my heart will surely long for the feeling of being completely home. This country has defined who I’ve become as a person and an artist,” she expressed.

The 48-year-old singer asked her supporters, friends and colleagues to join her one last time in her final concert in the country which will be take place on Oct. 11 in Greenhills, San Juan.

From 1999 to 2004, Bisa was the frontwoman for Moonstar88. During her time with the band, she released two studio albums, “Popcorn” in 2001 and “Press to Play” in 2002, producing popular songs “Torete,” “Sulat,” “Sa Langit” and “Fall on Me.”

In 2007, the “Pakiusap” singer released her first album as a solo artist entitled “Silver Lining.” Over the years, she also sang the soundtracks of popular teleseryes including “My Girl.”

She also popularized the English version of “One Love,” the theme song to the hit Korean television drama “Spring Waltz.”
