Chris Tiu on Shaira Diaz, EA Guzman’s celibate relationship: ‘I agree’

Chris Tiu expressed his support for his co-host, Shaira Diaz, who practices celibacy with her longtime boyfriend, EA Guzman, saying that he and his wife believed in the same thing before tying the knot.
“iBilib” hosts Tiu and Diaz sat down for a guest appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Friday, May 17, where the former was asked about his thoughts on premarital chastity after Diaz went viral when she and Guzman announced that they had been on sexual abstinence throughout their entire 11-year relationship.
“I agree with Shaira. I am also very Catholic, and I get my guidance from my parents as well,” said Tiu. “Same thing with my wife. We believe that you should save your most intimate self for your partner, the one that you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with, with the union blessed by God.”
Diaz reiterated that it is her personal choice to stay pure until marriage as a way to honor her parents and the lessons in the Bible.
“Ako gusto ko talaga dahil naniniwala ako at ino-honor ko talaga po ‘yung mga binigay kong salita sa magulang ko, ‘yung mga binigay nila sa aking advice. And siyempre sa Bible rin po. ‘Yun naman talaga, na dapat walang ganito before marriage,” she explained.

The “Unang Hirit” host asserted that she does not hold it against couples who engage in sex before marriage.
“Wala talaga akong against sa mga gumagawa noon. Siguro sa akin talaga choice ko talaga na gusto ko na i-save ‘yon sa pagkakasal namin,” she said.
Diaz and Guzman have been in a relationship since 2013. They announced early this year that they have been engaged since 2021 and are set to hold their wedding in 2026.
Meanwhile, Tiu and his wife, Clarisse Ong, tied the knot in 2013 in Vancouver, Canada. They have two kids together.
