Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3 premieres today, March 25, on StarWorld
MANILA, Philippines—March 25, 2015 marks the return of one of the most successful reality shows to hit StarWorld as Asia’s Next Top Model (AsNTM) premieres its third season. Having garnered a solid fan base in its first two seasons, AsNTM is returning for Season 3 with new competition, new trends in fashion and its gorgeous new host, superstar model Georgina Wilson. StarWorld will be airing the first episode of AsNTM Season 3 on Wednesday at 8:45 PM.
Wilson has a wealth of experience that she’ll be using to lead the cast of model contenders through their day-to-day activities. As host, she will serve as the voice of the competition, giving direction to contestants when needed. As judge, Wilson will also help decide on the fate of contestants as they work to become AsNTM.
“I’m excited to work with such a prestigious competition that has launched the careers of talented models from Asia. I’m confident that this season will showcase even more bright and talented young women who will put Asia on the fashion and modeling map, and viewers will get to experience their journey in all its glory and drama,” says Wilson.
Rounding out the judging panel on AsNTM are Wilson’s fellow newcomer Alex Perry, who is himself a fashion icon and had previously done work with Australia’s Next Top Model, and model Joey Mead King, who returns to the show as mentor extraordinaire, having coached the aspiring models since Season 1. Perry will help the models develop their image including wardrobe, make-up, hair, and on-camera presence, while King, who has perfected her talent as a working model for the past two decades, will give them advice on their look, attitude and professionalism. Wilson, Perry and King will determine the fate of the current batch of contestants, who will undergo numerous challenges designed to hone their talent and shape them into exceptional models poised to take over Asia’s fashion scene and beyond.
AsNTM Season 3 promises to deliver exciting challenges, exotic locations and a showcase for the best modeling talent in Asia. Through challenges that will test their will, intelligence and instincts for high fashion, contestants will grow and develop into world-class modeling professionals before the eyes of viewers, but only one will shine enough to deserve the title of AsNTM.
A closer look on the Filipino contenders
This year, three Filipino contenders, Amanda, Franchesca and Monika, will be waving the country’s flag and taking a shot at the coveted title. They are among 14 aspiring models from eight different countries in Asia who have been handpicked from the droves of hopefuls who auditioned for a spot on Season 3 of AsNTM throughout the region.
Amanda is the youngest among the contestants. She was born and raised in Australia, but the 17-year-old confessed that she grew up in a household that practices core Filipino values. “I really love how friendly everyone is here,” says Amanda when asked what she loves most about her motherland.
But despite making it as far as Top 14 in the competition, Amanda revealed that AsNTM Season 3 is her first ever attempt in doing modeling in her entire life.
Franchesca, on the other hand, is a self-proclaimed “lazy model.” She has been doing shoots in Manila—on and off for five years, but she has never done anything to step up her game in the industry. But when AsNTM Season 3 came knocking on her door, that’s when she realized that she can do more.
Monika, a seasoned model who’s very vocal about how much she wants to win the competition, says she hopes she will make the country proud with her performance in AsNTM Season 3.
Prior to making it to AsNTM Season 3’s Top 14, Monika also joined the show’s second season but she didn’t make the cut. But equipped with determination, she’s back in the game, fiercer and stronger.
The challenges
The 14 contestants will be introduced to a unique modeling boot camp that will immerse them in activities that define the modeling industry, including catwalks, fashion shoots and acting classes designed to develop their personalities and ready them for the rigors of the fashion world.
In each episode, the models will learn basic and advanced skills designed to prepare them for a highly competitive environment, bringing Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3 to a whole new level with high stakes, high class and high fashion storylines. In the end, only one model will prove herself worthy of the title of Asia’s Next Top Model, and her rise to fame will prove to be a compelling journey witnessed by viewers of the show.
Presented by TRESemmé, Close Up, Subaru and Zalora, Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3 premieres on March 25 at 8:45 PM, and will be aired all across Southeast Asia on StarWorld.
