CESAR Montano: I want to concentrate on fundraising projects for my NGO. myxph.com

I had a blast bonding with my BFF (Best Friend Forever) Cesar Montano at his restaurant, Bellisimo. He was in high spirits as  he told me about the Fun Run against Cancer 2013 Manila (10K, 5K and 3K), which will be held on  June 8 at Rajah Sulayman Plaza on Roxas Blvd., Manila, near Malate church. (online registration at run.ph and all CDO branches in Metro Manila).

“Every month my new NGO, 7th Power, will organize sports events like golf and basketball,” he said. “I invited my show biz friends to join the Fun Run.”

FEATURED STORIES

I teased him, “Are you running away  from or running to someone?” We both had  a good laugh.

Then I asked him, “So how are things between you and Sunshine?”  He turned pensive, saying, “We’re civil. We had dinner with our kids last Mother’s Day. When she’s busy taping ‘Dugong Buhay,’ she leaves the kids with me. I make it a point to have Bible study with my kids. I am planning to ask her to go on a vacation with me in Europe. I think we need to be away from it all so we can talk things over.”

Have you seen her FHM pictorial? “I was being given a copy but I’d rather remember the way she looked when only her husband was there to see,” he quipped. “She’s always been sexy. She hates to exercise because she gets rashes on her back when she perspires a lot. When I tease her that her waistline is expanding  a bit, she starves herself.”

These days Buboy is also limiting his food intake and has gone on a fruit diet. I teased him, “Does that include the forbidden fruit?” We laughed like crazy.

What can he say about this and that girl being linked to him? “Now that Shine and I are living apart, any girl who will be photographed with me will be labelled as my new squeeze,” he said.

“I find it ridiculous how some people can make up stories based on one picture. It’s not like I got another woman pregnant or may binabahay ako. It’s all hearsay.”

Taking a break

After all the media frenzy over his separation from Sunshine, Buboy is taking a break from show biz commitments. “I was being offered a teleserye by ABS-CBN but I don’t feel like acting for now,” he revealed. “I want to concentrate on fundraising projects for my NGO. I am also focusing on my painting. I plan to have an online show eventually, ‘Buboy TV,’ where people can watch what I do daily. I am also spending more time with my  83-year-old Mom who’s very ill. My daughter Angela just gave birth to her second son,  Joshua Carl. I’m a proud grandpa all over again.”

As I watched Buboy jam with the acoustic band that night,  I was struck by the lyrics of one of the songs he sung, “Shower The People” by James Taylor.

You can play the game and you can act out the part

Though you know it wasn’t written for you

But tell me, how can you stand there with your broken heart

Ashamed of playing the fool

One thing can lead to another; it doesn’t take any sacrifice

Oh, father and mother, sister and brother

if it feels nice, don’t think twice

Just shower the people you love with love

Show them the way that you feel

Things are gonna work out fine if you only will

Shower the people you love with love.

Buboy sung with so much feeling as if the words were his own. He was definitely  singing  with all his heart.

If there’s one thing I admire  about Buboy, it’s his ability to bounce back and always see the positive in everything. Despite all  the storms in his life, he still manages to give shelter to the people he loves.
