Regine Velasquez gets apology over MYX Music Awards billing

The ABS-CBN Digital Team apologized to Regine Velasquez for its “oversight” on a MYX Music Awards promo material, in which the acclaimed singer’s photo was placed last among younger celebrities.
In the now-deleted promo material, ABS-CBN and MYX Global, which is under the former, showed the official presenters for this year’s MYX Music Awards.
Aside from Velasquez, other presenters shown were BINI members Jhoanna and Maloi, James Reid, “Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11” big winner Fyang Smith, Elijah Canlas, Gloc-9, Chloe San Jose, Alexa Ilacad and KD Estrada.
Noticeably, the photos of Jhoanna, Maloi, Reid and Smith were highlighted in the first row and were bigger than those of the rest of the presenters. Velasquez’s photo was placed last in the second row.
This drew flak among netizens particularly on X (formerly Twitter), with some describing such action as an “insult” and “disrespect” toward Velasquez. There were also those who pointed out that Gloc-9, another OPM icon, was placed in the second row as well in the promo material.

The ABS-CBN Digital Team then sent flowers to Velasquez along with the card containing their apology, as seen on the latter’s Instagram page on Thursday, Nov. 21.
“Dear Ms. Regine, we would like to sincerely apologize [for] the oversight in the promo material we released yesterday. We have deep respect and admiration for your craft [and the] remarkable contribution you have given the music industry. We will strive to do better moving forward. Maraming salamat po sa inyong pag-unawa. Sincerely, ABS-CBN Digital Team,” the message on the card read.

In the caption, Velasquez said, “Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers. Again, you guys didn’t have to but I appreciate it.”
The singer-actress also added the hashtag “Thank you, kalma na.”

Meanwhile, the MYX Music Awards 2024 recognized OPM artists in an event held on Nov. 21. P-pop groups SB19 and BINI emerged as this year’s big winners.
