Probe into actress Pilapil case continues —CIDG

MANILA, Philippines—Although turning up blanks, authorities continued in their efforts to unravel the mystery surrounding the stabbing incident of actress and former beauty queen Pilar Pilapil, a police official told INQUIRER.net Friday.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) director Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao Jr., said that investigators and manhunt and search teams were working round the clock to find Rosel Peñas, Pilapil’s companion on the night of the attack, as well as the gold Kia Carnival she was said to be driving. Both Peñas and the car have been missing since the incident.

Authorities have also found out that Peñas had no ties with Unilever Philippines–contrary to information given by Pilapil, Pagdilao said. The multinational company has also denied owning the van driven by Peñas on the night they were attacked.

Pilapil was stabbed five times and then left for dead in Antipolo City on the night of April 14 by still unidentified suspects.

The CIDG has since released a photograph of Peñas and urged those who knew her or who may have seen her to help in the investigation. A composite sketch of Pilapil’s assailant was also made by authorities.

Last week, Peñas’ husband denied that the body fished out from the Tumana River in Marikina City was that of his wife.
