Lohan due in court for key hearing in theft case

/ 08:50 PM April 22, 2011

LOS ANGELES—Lindsay Lohan is due in a Los Angeles courtroom where prosecutors will lay out some of the evidence they have against her in a felony grand theft case over a necklace.

The preliminary hearing Friday will feature testimony about the jewelry, which the store reported the actress took without permission in January.

Lohan has pleaded not guilty to taking the necklace, which is valued at $2,500. She has also rejected two plea deals offered by prosecutors and a judge that included a guaranteed jail sentence.

The incident happened roughly three weeks after the “Mean Girls” star was released from rehab and while she was on probation for a 2007 drunken driving case. A judge could send her to jail if she determines Lohan violated the terms of her release.
