Aerosmith touches down in Manila May 8

Finally, after 43 years, one of the most enduring rock bands in modern music history, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Aerosmith, has included Manila in its itinerary.

The one-night show, part of the band’s “The Global Warming World Tour” concerts, is set May 8 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

This was announced Tuesday night on the local organizer Pulp Live Productions’ YouTube Channel. Aerosmith’s website aerosmith.com shows that Manila has been added to their ongoing world tour stops, which also include Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia.

Hard rock

The quintet of Tom Hamilton (bassist), Joey Kramer (drummer), Joe Perry (lead guitarist), Brad  Whitford (guitarist), and vocalist Steven Tyler (arguably its best-known and notorious member) hard-rocked its way into becoming the best-selling American rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million albums worldwide. Aerosmith also holds the record for the most gold and multiplatinum albums by an American group. The band has had 21 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, four Grammy Awards, and 10 MTV Video Music Awards.

The band has been included on Rolling Stone’s and VH1’s lists of the 100 greatest artists of all time.

Aerosmith introduced to the world the unmistakably loud, raspy vocals of Tyler in hits such as “Dream On,” “Janie Got a Gun,”  “Amazing,” “Dude (Looks Like a Lady),” “Cryin,” “Crazy,” its  collaboration with Run DMC for the funk-rock “Walk This Way,” and “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” from the doomsday movie “Armageddon.”
