Nora Aunor to return as ‘Kapatid’

NORA Aunor: All her bags are packed.

AGAIN, again, again.

Let us all hope this is not another false alarm, since Nora Aunor herself said it: She will be back in Manila August 2.

Aunor confirmed the date on German Moreno’s radio program on another station, “Walang Siesta” on Wednesday. She also said she was returning for projects with TV5.

Speaking via a phone patch from Los Angeles, California, Aunor told Moreno: “Naka-empake na po ako. Excited na po ako makabalik matapos ang walong taon.” She thanked Moreno for his help in negotiating the TV5 deal.

Later, in a phone interview, Moreno told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that Aunor’s projects during her projected three–month stay will all feature her as an actress. He was uncertain about Aunor venturing into singing again.

TV5 Head of Creative and Entertainment Production Perci Intalan said the network staff and crew are all excited to work with Aunor, who will sign the pertinent contracts shortly after her arrival. Intalan said Aunor, 58, will headline a four–week mini-series tentatively scheduled for airing in September. He didn’t give details.

Aunor is also set to star with Laguna Governor ER Ejercito in the historical bio pic “El Presidente.” Directed by Tikoy Aguiluz, the film will have Aunor in the role of Maria Agoncillo, second wife of Emilio Aguinaldo.

Apology

Also on “Walang Siesta,” Aunor apologized for a string of aborted comeback plans these past couple of months.

Only last week, it was reported that Aunor would arrive on July 21. Press people and fans waited for four hours at the Los Angeles Airport on July 19 to catch a glimpse of Aunor before her trip back home. She never showed up.

Noranians thrilled

After many years of waiting, diehard Noranians have something to get excited about.

In a phone interview with the Inquirer, Albert Sunga, Aunor’s close friend, could barely contain his enthusiasm: “This is going to be very, very exciting! We’ve been waiting for many years.”

And they’re prepared to make the most out of their idol’s short stay. “We’re planning a special event, most likely a film showing to be attended by Ate Guy. I’ll also discuss with her the possibility of holding a fundraiser for victims of Typhoon ‘Juaning’ in the Bicol region,” Sunga said.
