Timeline: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance

From the moment National Football League (NFL) player Travis Kelce publicly declared crushing on award-winning pop star Taylor Swift, the public has kept a close eye and followed the milestones in the pair’s romance.

As the two celebrities are set to headline one of the biggest weddings of the year, fans are very ready for it, immersing themselves in every publicly available detail of the highly anticipated celebration.

But before the ringing of the wedding bells, let us look back at how Swift and Kelce found their way to the altar.

July 2023

Kelce attended the “Eras Tour” show at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, later revealing in his “New Heights” podcast that he was hoping to talk to Swift and give her a friendship bracelet. He further disclosed that the bracelet — which he was not able to give to the singer — had his number on it.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings. So I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” he admitted.

Despite his failed attempt to connect with Swift during her concert, Kelce still succeeded in capturing her attention, having one of her close friends make mention of him to her.

“I had somebody playing Cupid,” the football player said in a The Wall Street Journal interview in November 2023.

Swift had complementing accounts as she said in a December 2023 interview, “So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”

The pair had their first date in New York City in the late summer of 2023.

September 2023

The pair’s brewing romance was confirmed after Swift watched Kelce and his team, Kansas City Chiefs, go against the Chicago Bears. The singer-songwriter also bonded at the time with Kelce’s mother, with the two cheering for the NFL player at a suite at the stadium.

The following month, Swift was also present at the Chiefs’ game against the New York Jets, bringing along with her her friends Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sabrina Carpenter and Sophie Turner.

“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” Swift later revealed. “I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

November 2023

Kelce attended the “Eras Tour” show in Toronto, cheering for Swift alongside her father Scott.

January, February 2024

Swift and Kelce had a full-blown PDA as they locked lips while celebrating the Chiefs’ win against the Baltimore Ravens during the AFC Championship Game. The couple shared a kiss again during the Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas where the Chiefs emerged as champions anew.

June 2024

Kelce proved he’s one supportive boyfriend after he made a cameo on Swift’s “Eras Tour” show at London’s Wembley Stadium, performing with her during her “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart” set.

“I initially mentioned it to Tay. I was like, ‘How funny would it be if I just rolled out on one of the bikes during the 1989 era?’” he said during a “New Heights” podcast.

Swift just initially laughed off his suggestion, then later seriously considered it.

August 13, 2025

After over a year of giving subtle nods to their romance in several separate instances, Swift and Kelce appeared together in the “New Heights” podcast where the singer promoted her then-upcoming album “The Life of a Showgirl.”

August 26, 2025

Kelce finally put a ring on it, with the couple announcing their engagement via a joint post on their Instagram page.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the couple captioned their post.

While details about the engagement remain unknown, the NFL player appeared to have popped the question in an outdoor garden, asking her hand for marriage with an elongated cushion-cut diamond ring.

December 2025

Rumors that the couple would tie the knot at the luxurious coastal venue Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, on June 13 surfaced on social media. The couple did not comment on the matter.

March 2026

Swift and Kelce made their awards show as they attended the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, where the former won the Pop Album of the Year for “The Life of a Showgirl.” /ra
