Kim Molina spoke out against threats of physical harm directed at her husband Jerald Napoles from a netizen who apparently disapproves of “Love, NGO“—the actor’s film about a person with disability.

Napoles shared via his Facebook page last Saturday, June 13, a screenshot of a message from a Facebook user who warned him against making films about individuals with cleft lip and cleft palate. The netizen further threatened to physically assault Napoles if they were to cross paths.

Molina reposted this via her Facebook page and said, “Messages like this are alarming and should never be normalized. Criticism is one thing, but threatening physical harm is another.”

“Let’s keep discussions respectful and remember that behind every screen is a real person,” she reminded the public.

Even before its June 3 premiere, “Love, NGO,” which was initially entitled “Ngongo,” had drawn criticisms due to its apparent use of derogatory remarks. Among those who denounced the film was the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA).

Molina has also previously defended her husband’s decision to accept the project and stressed that he “wouldn’t accept a project that would degrade anyone’s well-being.”

Aside from Napoles, also featured as cast members in the Darryl Yap-helmed film are Candy Pangilinan, Gina Alajar, Louise delos Reyes and content creator Joel Ravanera, popularly known as Malupiton. /ra
