Dani Barretto slams stepdad Dennis Padilla anew: ‘Weren’t you the abusive one?’
Dani Barretto called out her stepfather, Dennis Padilla, anew over what she described as his “pa-victim” narrative regarding their family issues.
Barretto made the remarks in response to Padilla’s comment under a video clip of her speaking on Kylie Verzosa’s “Almost Honest” podcast about her admiration for her mother, Marjorie Barretto, for leaving what she described as a toxic marriage.
In the comments section, Padilla addressed his stepdaughter directly and hinted that he would answer her statements “point by point.”
“Dani, abangan mo sagot ko. Point by point. Mula nung nasa tiyan ka pa ng nanay mo. I felt abused; I felt liberated nung nakawala ako sa relationship na sinasabi mo. Huwag masyadong mayabang. Wala kang alam. Half lang alam mo,” the actor wrote.
Barretto later fired back with a lengthy response accusing Padilla of abusive behavior and damaging relationships with his children.
“I think you’re forgetting we all lived in the same house. That we woke up to your screams every morning. Kung hindi si mom sinisigawan mo, one of the help. This is what you always do: use social media to defend yourself and spread more lies and gaslight your children and now me,” the content creator replied.
“You keep pushing this narrative na kinawawa ka. Weren’t you the abusive one? Kahit nasaan tayo, kahit sa mall, sa grocery, wala kang pinipiling lugar para may sigawan. Default mo ‘yan noon hanggang ngayon,” she added.
Barretto also alleged that Padilla would call his children late at night while intoxicated as she further defended her mother.
“Diba tatawag ka sa mga anak mo mostly laging madaling araw kasi lasing ka para murahin at sigawan lang sila? And now know-it-all pa ko? Ikaw na naman kawawa? Si mom nanaman sisiraan mo. Enough is enough,” she lamented.
The influencer also alleged that Padilla’s children, her stepsiblings Julia, Claudia and Leon Barretto, no longer communicate with the actor because of his actions.
“All your kids know who you are. That’s why most of them have no communication with you. Because you burned bridges with each of them. Pero sa kwento mo, sila ang mali and ikaw pa rin ang kawawa. Make it make sense,” Dani concluded.
The heated exchange, which comes amid the long-standing public tension between Padilla and the Barretto family, has been deleted as of writing.
Last year, Marjorie broke her silence on her tumultuous relationship with Padilla for the very first time as she opened up about how “abusive” it got when they were together.
Over the years, Padilla is known to publicly declare that he would cut ties with his children, then later reach out to them with a greeting and expression of love on social media.
The family conflict reached a new height when Claudia got married, and Padilla alleged that he was treated like a “visitor” at the wedding, lamenting how he never got the chance to walk his daughter down the aisle. /ra
