Sam Milby ‘surprised’ by Catriona Gray’s revelations about their past romance
Sam Milby admitted that he was a “bit surprised” by Catriona Gray’s recent revelations about their past relationship, but reiterated he wants to keep matters between them.
The exes’ past romance gained attention after the Miss Universe 2018 titleholder revealed in an interview with Karen Davila that the actor-singer wasn’t ready to commit despite asking for her hand in marriage. Gray added that she tried to adjust and give him time, but to no avail.
Asked for his reaction to the interview, Milby told TV Patrol on its Feb. 16 broadcast, “My reaction is I just wanna keep sa’min ni Cat private, honestly. I just won’t have a comment. Was I surprised? Yeah, I was a bit surprised.”
On the same day, Milby received a shady remark from Paulo Avelino at the press conference of “The Alibi: Ang Buong Katotohanan” when he revealed that he accidentally hurt Kim Chiu while filming a scene.
“So lagi kang nakakasakit nang hindi mo sinasadya? Hayaan mo may solo interview ka naman (So you tend to always hurt someone without meaning it? Don’t worry, you have a solo interview anyway),” Avelino told Milby.

Avelino didn’t explicitly reveal the chain of events at the time. Still, it will be noted that Milby became emotional during a “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview in March 2025, when asked about his breakup with Gray.
Milby and Gray were supposed to tie the knot in 2024, but the “Pinoy Big Brother” alum confirmed that they broke up in February 2025.
The actor is part of the cast of “The Alibi: Ang Buong Katotohanan,” an extended cut of “The Alibi” which originally premiered on Prime Video in November last year. The teleserye version will premiere on free TV, Kapamilya Channel, and A2Z in March. /ra
