Words of wisdom

Here are enlightening words of wisdom from an ancient sage named Chanakya Pandit:

A wicked wife, a false friend, and a saucy servant living in a house with a serpent bring nothing but death.

Save your wealth for a future calamity. Do not say, “What fear has a rich man of calamity?”  When riches begin to forsake you, even accumulated stock dwindles away.

Wise men should never go to a country that has no sense of shame, intelligence nor a charitable disposition.

Test a servant while in the discharge of his duty as you would a relative in difficulty or a friend in adversity.

A true friend does not forsake us in times of need, misfortune, famine and war—or at the crematorium

Extract nectar even from poison, wash gold if it has fallen in filth, receive the highest knowledge even from a lowly person, and accept a girl with virtuous qualities even if she was born into a disreputable family.

He whose son is obedient to him, whose wife’s conduct is in accordance with his wishes, and who is content with his riches experiences heaven on earth!
