South Korean actors Lee Dong-wook and Lee Sung-kyung will be joining forces in the crime drama “The Nice Guy,” scheduled for a July 18 release.
Dong-wook and Sung-kyung’s upcoming drama was announced by Disney+ Korea in a press statement, that it will be composed of 14 episodes. Also joining them are Ryu Hye-young and Oh Na-ra, who are known for their appearances in “Reply 1988” and “Sky Castle,” respectively.
“The Nice Guy” tells the story of Park Seok-cheol (Lee Dong-wook), who is the eldest grandson of a family of gangsters. Despite his violence-ridden background, he is determined to have nothing to do with his family and instead, become an author like his idol Ernest Hemingway.
Seok-cheol’s personal dilemma deepens upon crossing paths again with his first love, Kang Mi-young (Lee Sung-kyung), who dreams of becoming a singer but has yet to conquer her stage fright.
The Song Hae-sung- and Park Hong-soo-helmed drama kicked off production sometime last year and finished filming by August, according to a report by South Korean media outlet OSEN.
Dong-wook, who made a name for himself as an actor, host, and heartthrob, is best known for his lead roles in “My Girl,” “Scent of a Woman,” “Goblin,” “Tale of the Nine-Tailed,” and “A Shop For Killers,” to name a few.
Meanwhile, Sung-kyung started her entertainment career as a model before making her acting debut in the 2014 K-drama “It’s Okay, That’s Love.” Some of her notable dramas include “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo” and “Dr. Romantic,” and has also released songs and appeared in theater. /edv
