Sharon Cuneta no comment on KC Concepcion, Aly Borromeo’s rumored reconciliation

Sharon Cuneta opted to not comment on the rumored reconciliation of KC Concepcion and her ex-boyfriend, Filipino-American football player Aly Borromeo, pointing out that it’s not her place to talk about her daughter’s personal life.

Concepcion and Borromeo are rumored to have rekindled their romance after the actress-entrepreneur was spotted attending the Azkals Celebrity Cup, where the latter was one of the football players, in October 2024. They previously dated from 2016 and 2018.

While the ex-couple remained mum on the matter, Cuneta said she doesn’t want to speak about Concepcion’s dating life.

“I think you should ask KC. She’s old na eh,” she told reporters during an interview on the sidelines of an insurance company event in Makati.

The Megastar said it’s not her position to talk about Concepcion’s personal life since her daughter is a “full-fledged adult.” “I don’t want to betray her trust naman. She’s a full-fledged adult. You can ask her. She’ll be happy to tell you. I don’t think it is my place to talk about her personal [life],” she said.

During the interview, Cuneta spoke about her relationship with her children, particularly the time she turned over Concepcion’s savings back to her after graduating from college in Paris.

“I taught KC [to invest]. Even before she graduated from college. When she graduated from college in Paris, I told her when you get home, I am turning to you all of your savings. Not one peso less,” she said.

Since Cuneta and Concepcion’s father, actor Gabby Concepcion, separated, the veteran actress-singer said she made it a point to remind her daughter about the importance of working for herself and finding the right partner.

“She was very young when [her father Gabby] and I separated, so I told her, you’re a very strong woman, you don’t need a man to support you. You can work for yourself and your own future,” she recalled. “[If] you find someone worth spending the rest of your life with, then go ahead and be happy. You don’t have to find someone who’s wealthy, just someone who will love you.”

The mother-and-daughter relationship between Cuneta and Concepcion has been on an upward trajectory since reconciling before 2024 ended. The latter shared glimpses of her bonding moments with the Megastar last Dec. 31 of last year, saying that spending time with her mother was the “best way” to end the year.

The heartfelt reunion between Cuneta and Concepcion was significant for them, as it happened seven months after the Megastar revealed that they were “estranged.”
