Sam Pinto had quite a worrisome experience while on a family trip to Japan after her husband Anthony Semerad was hospitalized due to dengue fever, which he got from Manila.

“I appreciate everyone’s concern. Anthony has been unwell since our second day here (Feb. 5). He had a very high fever ranging from 39 to 40 degrees, along with chills, headaches, joint pain, a loss of appetite, and nausea,” the actress narrated via her Instagram Stories on Monday, Feb. 10.
Semerad was examined by a doctor and got tested for COVID-19 and influenza, which both turned out negative. However, despite taking prescribed medication, his condition worsened.
“We contacted the doctor again, who prescribed antibiotics. Sadly, his situation continued to decline, leading us to call an ambulance for transport to the hospital,” Pinto stated.
“Since it was a Sunday, most hospitals were closed, and only a few were accepting patients. Eventually, the ambulance took him to a facility that could admit him,” she continued.
Semerad underwent blood tests and IV treatment which revealed that his white blood cells and platelets were “extremely low.”
“The doctors here were unsure of the diagnosis, so they sent his results to his team doctor, who confirmed it was Dengue Fever,” Pinto said. “They provided medication for his headache and nausea, but instructed us to return to the hotel and allow him to rest.”
“He got Dengue from Manila. [Four to seven] incubation days, and his immune system is so low from the games, flying, traveling, hot to cold weather,” she noted.
Pinto then disclosed that Semerad’s most recent blood tests still yielded “very low platelets.” She also shared how she had to do everything alone while caring for both her husband and their daughter Mia.
