‘It’s Showtime’ contestant gets fund for house reconstruction
“It’s Showtime” hosts Ogie Alcasid and Vhong Navarro embraced the season of giving after offering financial help to a contestant for the reconstruction of the latter’s burnt house.
Carlo, a motorcycle taxi driver, joined the show’s “And The Breadwinner Is…” segment on Friday, Dec. 20, turning emotional as he shared how he needs to juggle multiple jobs to support his family.
He also lamented how their house was recently burned down due to a fire accident, which caused them to use a makeshift roof made of tarp sheet to cover their house.
The show then gave Carlo several gifts including a dining set, kitchen appliances, pastry products and medical tests for his parents.
After the gifts were given, Navarro said, “Alam mo ako—naaawa kasi ako sa storya mo e. Dadagdagan ko na rin ng P10,000 pa para makatulong na rin sa bahay na pinapagawa mo.”

Carlo broke in tears as he expressed his gratitude to the show and hosts, who showered him with words of encouragement.
“Madadagdagan na po ‘yung pampagawa ko ng bahay dahil sa binigay niyo, tapos magkakalaman pa po. Sabi ko sa sarili ko okay lang na walang gamit basta makatulog lang po kami nang maayos lahat. Pero ginawa niyo pa pong the best yung Pasko,” Carlo said.
(Your gifts include not just funds for our house construction but also the things we need at home. I had told myself that it’s okay to not have furniture as long as we can sleep peacefully, but you made our Christmas better.)
