Nadia Montenegro recovering after heart procedure, severe seizure

Nadia Montenegro is now in a stable condition after she came close to having a heart attack, which prompted her to undergo an emergency heart procedure.
Montenegro’s condition was disclosed by her daughter Ynna Asistio, through the latter’s Facebook page on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
“To everyone who prayed for my mom Nadia, thank you so much. She is now out of danger,” Ynna said. “Last week, she came very close to having a heart attack due to her Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a rare condition she has had since birth.”
According to Mayo Clinic, Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome is a “congenital heart defect that causes a fast heartbeat.” Those diagnosed with this condition “have an extra pathway for signals to travel between the heart’s upper and lower chambers.”
“Her condition worsened last week, making it necessary to perform an urgent heart procedure,” Ynna continued. “The procedure took place this morning and was successful. However, shortly after, she experienced a severe seizure lasting 2 to 3 minutes, which triggered a code blue in the hospital. Thankfully, she is now stable and recovering.”
Article continues after this advertisementIn a separate post, Ynna showed Nadia lying on the hospital bed with her grandchild beside her.
“One of the hardest realizations I had last night, which keeps replaying in my mind, is that ‘I almost lost my mom,'” Ynna further said. “Yesterday, I was still numb from everything that happened, but the weight of it hit me when I got home.”
“This moment serves as a wake-up call—not just for my family but also for me—reminding me how important it is to spend time with, love, and cherish the people we care about,” she added.
Montenegro, who is currently admitted at a hospital, was visited by her celebrity friends including Sen. Robin Padilla and Lotlot de Leon, as seen on her Instagram Stories.
