James Reid announces new EP ‘jgh,’ drops new single ‘Mirasol’
James Reid announced that he will release a new extended play (EP) “jgh” on November 22, and his third single “Mirasol” is one of the featured tracks.
Reid confirmed his new EP and single in a press statement, saying the album follows a pop direction and is his “return-to-form” as a singer-songwriter. Also containing the tracks “Sandal” and “Hurt Me Too,” it shows his “softer [and] more vulnerable side” as well.
The singer-songwriter also mentioned in the press statement that “Mirasol” shows that love is more than just “falling in love with a sunflower.”
“Romance is something that requires appreciation, protection, and understanding. Love is an organic process and needs to grow naturally,” said Reid, while noting that sunflowers are symbols of a “sweet summer romance.”
The single was written by Reid and R&B singer-producer Alisson Shore, while Tim Marquez of One Click Straight created the melody.

Reid’s music is experiencing a resurgence on social media, as his 2015 single “Randomantic” went viral. The song was written by Yumi Lacsamana and Thyro Alfaro, and is featured on the soundtracks of Reid’s “Reid Alert” EP and the teen romcom film “Para Sa Hopeless Romantic.”
In a recent interview with INQUIRER.net, the singer-songwriter admitted that “Randomantic” is his favorite track of the 2015 EP.
