Iza Calzado disclosed that she has been dealing with pharyngitis and bronchitis for over a week, saying it served as a “wake-up call” to be “more mindful” of her health.

Calzado took to her Instagram account on Sunday, Sept. 1, to share her battle with pharyngitis and bronchitis, while referencing the viral “very demure, very mindful” trend by TikTok content creator Jools Lebron.

“Pharyngitis. Bronchitis. Not cutesy. My cough and nasal congestion. Not very demure. Over a week now of being sick and even missing out on some work commitments. Pushed my body too hard again,” she said.

The actress also shared that her “entire household got sick” as well, and throughout her week-long sickness, it reminded her to prioritize her “overall health and wellbeing.”

“Almost our entire household got sick but I was the one who got it bad. From losing my voice to developing bronchitis, this is definitely a wake-up call to be even more mindful. Mindful of my overall health and well-being. Mindful of my boundaries. Mindful of where my energy goes,” she said.

While Calzado is relieved that her sickness happened “before work and life schedule” became even more hectic, she is grateful for those who helped in her recovery.

“Grateful for those who have been helping me through this journey. I did everything from doing a panel test, taking my medications, [nebulizing], to doing IV drips, acupuncture, ozone treatment, and energy healing. Doctors, healers, and nurses all making sure I bounce back to feeling strong and healthy again for work, which starts tomorrow, and all that I have lined up in the next few months. Salamat sa inyo,” she said.

The “Starting Over Again” star reiterated that she will take care of herself more, especially since she wants to be committed to being a mother to her daughter Deia.

“Moving forward with a plan to make sure I can be at my optimal health for the many hats I wear in life, especially the one I wear with most pride and joy — being Deia’s mom. May we all be happy, healthy, mindful and very demure,” she said.

The actress is set to be the lead in the upcoming play “Tiny Beautiful Things,” which is based on the 2012 self-help book, “Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar” by Cheryl Strayed.
