Kapamilya actor Piolo Pascual insists that there is no “rating rivalry” between him and Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo given that their current shows air on the same time slot.

Pascual currently headlines “Pamilya Sagrado,” while Alonzo stars in “Widows’ War,” opposite Carla Abellana.

“There is no rivalry whatsoever. At the end of the day, we are friends,” Pascual said in an interview during the advanced screening of his latest film, “Real Life Fiction,” on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Pascual and Alonzo recently took to Instagram to share a screenshot of their recent video call, teasing that they were talking about TV ratings.

“We’re talking about dinner because it’s long overdue. Then we were saying, ‘Oo nga, magkatapat ‘yung show natin (our show has the same timeslot),'” shared the actor.

In 2005, Alonzo and Pascual played lovers in the romantic comedy movie “Dreamboy.” Seven years later, they starred as side characters in “24/7 in Love,” led by former love team and real-life couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.

Meanwhile, talking about his new film, “Real Life Fiction,” in which he played an actor and director, Pascual shared that he doesn’t see himself going into the direction of filmmaking as he sees himself more focused on producing.

Given that his new psychological thriller film tells the story of how an actor tends to mix up his reality and fiction as a celebrity and an ordinary person, Pascual admitted that he tried to limit his exposure as a public figure.

“I’m just a regular guy,” he said. “It’s all in the day work for me. I don’t bring it home with me. At the end of the day, you shrug it off, you shake it off, and you go home to your families without the camera. I limit my exposure.”

“Real Life Fiction” also stars Jasmine Curtis-Smith, and it will open in local cinemas starting on Aug. 28.
