K-pop girl group fromis_9 hoped to display their “signature refreshing vibe” and show the magic of summer in its third single album “Supersonic,” which was released last August 12.

Composed of Saerom, Hayoung, Jiwon, Jisun, Seoyeon, Chaeyoung, Nagyung, and Jiheon, the girl group released their new single album which marks their first comeback in over a year.

“We want to share our signature refreshing vibe while showcasing our healthy energy,” fromis_9 said in a press statement. The album is also a display of the girl group’s “bright and energetic charm,” their label Pledis Entertainment added.

The single album contains three tracks — its title track “Supersonic,” “Beat the Heat,” and “Take A Chance” — with Saerom and Jiwon contributing to the lyrics of “Beat the Heat.”

Meanwhile, Saerom, Jiwon, and Seoyeon wrote the lyrics of “Take A Chance,” which includes the “essence of summer.”

“This single [album] truly captures summer itself. From the intense and passionate lead track ‘Supersonic’ to the cool and breezy B-sides like ‘Beat the Heat’ and ‘Take A Chance,’ we’ve infused the essence of summer into every song. We hope listeners can recharge their energy and enjoy a refreshing summer with our new single,” fromis_9 said.

The music video for “Supersonic,” which was released on the same day, showed the members enjoying their summer getaway by doing water activities, stargazing, and sunbathing.

“Supersonic” comes 14 months after their album “Unlock My World,” which was dropped in June 2023. In a previous statement, the record is a representation of the fromis_9’s goal to reclaim the “summer queen title.”

The K-pop girl group was formed through the survival “Idol School” before they eventually debuted as a nine-piece act in January 2018. Its former member Jang Gyuri left in July 2022.

The female octet was previously under Off The Record before moving to Pledis Entertainment in August 2021.
