Darren Espanto discharged from hospital after appendectomy: ‘Plot twist’

Darren Espanto has been discharged from the hospital after going through appendectomy, saying his appendicitis started from stomach pain after landing from Los Angeles.
Espanto described his hospital stay as a “plot twist” in an Instagram post on Sunday, August 13, recalling he was already dealing with stomach pain in the plane. The post also contained glimpses from his recent bout with appendicitis.
“Was so ready to be back on ‘It’s Showtime’ but the universe had other plans. From the airport to the hospital. Woke up on the plane from Los Angeles at around 1 AM (Manila Time) and felt a bit of pain in my stomach. Didn’t mind it and thought I was just super hungry. We landed 4 hours later and the pain got worse once I got into the car,” he said.

The singer-actor thought his stomachache “was just gas” until he was eventually rushed to the hospital after his pain became “unbearable.”
“Found out I had appendicitis and had to get an appendectomy immediately. Thankfully, my appendix hadn’t ruptured yet. Went to our doctor at St. Luke’s and I had a laparoscopy all within 5 hours of everything happening,” he said.
Despite being discharged from the hospital, Espanto hoped that he would return to work as soon as he can.
“Finally discharged and hope to get back to work soon! I’d like to apologize [for] the commitments I had to cancel because of this. Thank you po for understanding,” he said.
The official Instagram page of “It’s Showtime,” Melai Cantiveros, Vina Morales, Enzo Pineda, and host Ai Dela Cruz sent supportive messages in the comments.

Espanto, who held his “D10” concert in June, announced that he was rushed to the hospital on August 9.
The singer-actor was recently in California for the “ASAP Natin ‘To” reunion concert with fellow Kapamilya stars.
