Alethea Ambrosio eyeing showbiz after Miss Supranational 2024 stint

After becoming the first Filipino woman to be proclaimed Miss Supranational Asia and Oceania at the 2024 Miss Supranational pageant held in Poland last month, Alethea Ambrosio already has a clear vision of what she wants to pursue next—show business.
She revealed this when she faced members of the media at her recent victory press conference held at Empire Studios at the Estancia Mall in Pasig City on Aug. 6, where she was joined by Brandon Espiritu, who posted the Philippines’ highest placement in the Mister Supranational pageant by finishing as second runner-up, also in Poland last month.
“Actually I’ve been talking to Mama J (Empire Philippines Head Jonas Gaffud) and the whole Empire team, I’ve been telling them I want to enter show biz,” shared the 22-year-old model from Bulacan, who extended the Philippines’ placement streak in the Miss Supranational pageant to 12 years.
Binibining Pilipinas Elaine Kay Moll started the streak in 2012 when she finished fourth in the global tilt’s fourth edition. The Philippines has posted one victory, courtesy of Mutya Datul who captured the crown in 2013. Last year’s representative, Pauline Amelinckx, almost snagged a second win for the country when she finished as first runner-up.
Ambrosio, however, said she is in no hurry to take a crack at the entertainment industry. “Not right away, of course, we need preparations. But it’s one of my dreams and I’m looking forward to going through that journey with everyone,” said the Economics graduate from De La Salle University.
As Miss Supranational Asia and Oceania, Ambrosio said she is proud that a fellow Asian bagged the top title, Harashta Haifa Zahra, who gave Indonesia its first victory in the Poland-based international competition.
“When she was part of the Top 5, as an Asian, we’re really proud of her representing us. And when she was called the winner, we were all happy, we were shouting. And I’m just so happy, because we are looking forward to her visiting this year, I hope. And we’ll make some content for you guys,” Ambrosio said.
“During the competition, Miss Japan and Miss Indonesia were roommates. And Miss Japan and I are really close, because we’re neighbors. So when we speak Filipino or when others do not understand what we’re talking about, Harashta would really ask what it is about, and she will really try to really interact with people,” Ambrosio shared. The Japanese delegate was Filipino-Japanese actress Yuki Sonoda, who speaks fluent Filipino.
Ambrosio also shared what she found to be a touching moment during the competition with Portugal’s Christina Carvalho. “She was there the whole time, she held my evening gown and even helped me with my hair. And then I left my sash sa backstage, she even went there, and went back to where we’re settling before the Top 5,” the Filipino delegate said.
“And after that, she thought I was still part of the Top 5. So she was, like, ‘I’m rooting for you, I’m proud of you.’ And she was like ‘who do you think will win?’ I said I have someone in my mind. And she said, ‘what do you mean? You’re still part of the competition.’ So the whole time she didn’t know I was out of the Top 5, and she was still rooting for me,” Ambrosio said.
“That type of friendship is not something that you can find just talking to someone, it’s really having a connection with your sisters throughout the competition,” she added, saying the moment touched her and made her teary-eyed.
Ambrosio had already crowned the Philippines’ new Miss Supranational delegate, 2024 Miss Universe Philippines third runner-up Tarah Valencia from Baguio City, who will compete in next year’s edition of the international competition.
