Actress-singer Sarah Geronimo marked her 36th birthday on Thursday, July 25, by offering prayers for the victims of Typhoon Carina and thanking volunteers and rescuers who extended their help to the victims.
The Popstar Royalty took to Instagram to share photos of individuals and pets that suffered the onslaught of the typhoon, as well as art cards for emergency hotlines and a donation drive for the affected.
“As I celebrate my birthday and blow out my candles, my heart also goes out to those affected by Typhoon Carina. Ipinagdarasal ko po lahat ng ating mga kababayang nasalanta ng bagyo at ngayon ay sinusubukang makabangon muli (I am praying for all our countrymen who were devastated by the typhoon and are now trying to get back on their feet.),” she wrote in her caption.
“Gusto ko rin magbigay-pugay sa ating mga matatapang na rescue teams na patuloy na nag-aalay ng kanilang buhay para siguraduhing ligtas ang lahat—pati na rin ang ating mga alagang hayop. Napakalaki ng respeto ko sa mga kababayan natin na di pinabayaan ang kanilang mga alagang hayop sa kabila ng peligro na dulot ng bagyo,” continued the singer, adding that they are the real superheroes.

(I also want to pay tribute to our brave rescue teams that continue to sacrifice their lives to make sure everyone is safe — including our pets. I have a lot of respect for our countrymen who did not abandon their pets despite the danger from the typhoon.)
Geronimo urged her followers to continue praying for their fellowmen and to support ongoing relief operations as “efforts and donations go a long way.”
Meanwhile, the pop singer’s husband, Matteo Guidicelli, also penned a sweet birthday message to his wife on Instagram.
“Wishing you all the happiness, love, smiles, joy, laughter, and music in the world!” he said. “I’ll always be here right beside you to support you, and I’ll be cheering you on as you chase your dreams!” His Instagram message was accompanied by pictures of them together and some solo snaps of Geronimo.
