Janella Salvador, Jane De Leon reunite in romantic ‘Hey, You’ music video
After plans for their GL movie was shelved, Janella Salvador and Jane De Leon took off where they left off with Salvador’s single, “Hey You,” a music video about two schoolgirls who fell in love with each other.
The music video was released on June 22 by ABS-CBN Star Music, marking Salvador and De Leon’s reunion collaboration since “Mars Ravelo’s Darna” in 2022.
The video starts with Salvador pining for De Leon who was a soccer player in school. Her feelings grow with their every encounter in school. De Leon then accidentally hits Salvador on the head with a soccer ball, eventually setting the tone for their love story.
Another scene, however, shows De Leon leaving Salvador a letter with the words “Hey you,” proving that the latter’s feelings were mutual all along.
The music video ends with the actresses moving their heads closer to kiss before showing the text: “Love is love, regardless of who it finds.”
Article continues after this advertisementSalvador took to her Instagram account to announce the video’s release on the same day, referring to it as a “little gift” to their fans.
“Happy Pride, my dear vadengs! I hope you like my little gift,” she wrote.

In an ABS-CBN News report, the actress-singer said the music video’s concept of “Hey You” was her idea, while thanking De Leon for “being so on board with everything.”
Salvador and De Leon’s chemistry was among the highlights of the fantasy drama, with the actresses saying their pairing was an “unexpected” surprise, as they hoped it would pave the way for LGBTQIA+ representation in local media.
“Kaya nila kami kinapitan kasi hindi sila na-represent nang maayos in terms of women’s love. I’m glad they did because I want to be the voice of people who aren’t represented and I love the community,” Salvador said in January 2023.
The actresses were supposed to take part in a girls’ love (or GL) movie, but Salvador shared in a February 2024 interview that it was dropped along the way.
Salvador and De Leon are set to join forces in the upcoming film “How to Be a Good Wife” under the direction of Jun Robles Lana. Details on the plot and premiere date are yet to be announced.
Last March, Salvador — whose parents are music royalties Jenine Desiderio and Juan Miguel Salvador — released the music video for her single “headtone,” which was said to mark her return to the music scene.
