Hounded by breakup rumors, Paolo Contis says men have harder time with love
Paolo Contis underscored that the one thing common about men is that they are “hard to love,” amid being hounded by breakup rumors with his girlfriend, Yen Santos.
In his guest appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Wednesday, May 15, the Kapuso actor asserted that men hide too much pain and angst within them.
Abunda asked Contis to describe what he thought of men in general, to which the actor replied that men have a tougher time with expressing their feelings, especially about love.
“Tito Boy, mahirap mahalin ang lalaki,” he said. “I have to be honest. Nakakainggit ‘yung ibang mga tao that they are very open about their feelings, maraming tagong angst, pain ang lalaki. We always have to act strong. And sometimes you’re not that strong, and you cannot show it to the people.”
Given the series of controversies he faced over the years, Contis remarked that he’s no longer affected by the criticism he received unless it is directed towards his family.

“Pero kasi, I make sure na sa 100 na bashing at may isang positive diyan, I concentrate on that positive. Naniniwala ako na ‘pag may isang naniniwala sa’yo, okay ka pa,” continued the actor.
The “Tabing Ilog” actor recently made headlines after his girlfriend unfollowed him on Instagram and deleted her birthday greeting to him, sparking rumors that they have separated.
In a separate interview, Contis gave a “no comment” response when asked if he and Santos had already broken up.
But talking to Boy Abunda, the actor clarified his “no comment” remark, saying that he doesn’t owe anyone the details of his personal life anymore.
“I think dumating na kasi tayo sa point na feeling ko, people think we owe it to everyone to share what’s happening to you, and I don’t believe it’s part of my acting craft anymore,” he explained.
“I think it’s time na ‘yung mga pribadong bagay, mga walang kinalaman sa pag-arte mo o sa craft mo bilang artista, itira mo na ‘yun para sa sarili mo,” added the actor.
Before dating Santos, he was in a relationship with LJ Reyes, with whom he shares one daughter. He also dated Lian Paz, with whom he shares two daughters.
