James Reid’s mother approves of Issa Pressman: ‘Mabait siya’

James Reid and Issa Pressman‘s relationship seemed to have been given the seal of approval by the singer-actor’s mother, Marcela MacDonald.

On the sidelines of “Lisa Frankenstein’s” premiere per Inquirer Bandera, MacDonald gave a two thumbs up when asked if she’s in favor of Reid and Pressman’s whirlwind romance, though she insists that she is not one to meddle in her son’s personal affairs. “Yes po! Mabait siya (She’s nice),” she said of Pressman.

MacDonald said she is happy for, and is fully supportive, of her son’s love life and career. Despite his successes, the proud mother said that Reid “never changed” his attitude towards his family.

Still, she said that she doesn’t want to meddle in his personal affairs.

“Sa kanyang buhay yan, not mine,” she said. “Siya pa rin ‘yun. James is James… Whatever his decision, happy ako para sa kanya.” (It’s his life, not mine. It’s still his. James is James. I’m happy for him. Whatever his decision, I’m happy for him.)

Reid and Pressmen made a seeming confirmation of their relationship when they attended the Harry Styles’ concert in March 2023, though it wasn’t after a few months later when they finally made public their feelings for one another.

At the Preview Ball last September, Pressman said she and the “u & i” singer are doing “great” and is now relieved that she can be seen with him at events.

“It feels relieving at least ngayon nakakahinga ako. I think I took a year [off]… I couldn’t sleep. It was kinda rough. One day, I’ll open up about it,” she told reporters.

“Now I just feel happy that there’s more love around and because there’s more love in me, I’m getting to express more love around also. It’s just gonna be a flow.”
