Maegan Aguilar seeks dad Freddie’s advice on her new song ‘Ama’
For her “comeback,” Maegan Aguilar reached out to her father, veteran singer-composer Freddie Aguilar, to seek advice on her new song entitled “Ama.”
Through her Instagram page on Tuesday, Dec. 19, Maegan spoke about her original track—which appears to have taken inspiration from her dad’s hit song “Anak.”
“Praise the Lord! Hallelujah! How I deeply cherish moments like this, bonding and talking with my tatay,” she said, showing their father and daughter moments after their reunion.
“For the first time today, I had the courage and the confidence to send him the lyrics of my song ‘Ama,’ [and] even let him and my brother Jonan hear the very first rough demo I made,” she added.
Sharing Freddie’s comment, Maegan quoted him, “‘Ang ganda ng naisulat mo, anak. Just make sure that the authenticity of your song’s orchestration is rightly and properly delivered dahil comeback mo ito, anak.'”

In a separate Instagram post, Maegan gave a teaser of the track which she performed alongside a band. She then noted that the song will be coming out soon.
“Sino bang dapat kong kausapin/ At hingan ng tulong/… Ama/ Paano kung kailangan ko kayo,” a line from the song goes.

Maegan and Freddie had a falling-out in 2014 after she claimed that the latter kicked her and her children out of his house because of rotten vegetables.
Maegan and Freddie reconciled in 2015, although the two made headlines again earlier this year after she appeared on the show “Raffy Tulfo in Action” to ask for financial help from her dad.
Freddie then revealed that while he was already on speaking terms with Maegan—who admitted that she used drugs before—she was still not allowed to enter his house until she changed for the better.
The Aguilars reconciled in November, with Maegan thanking her dad for accepting her again.
