Vic Sotto has maintained that he has no plans of entering politics in the future, despite coming from a well-known political family.

Vic is the father of Pasig City Mayor Victor “Vico” Sotto, and brother to former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, whose children, Gian and Lala are vice mayor of Quezon City and MTRCB chairman, respectively. Their nephew Wahoo Sotto, meanwhile, is a councilor of Paranaque. Their paternal grandfather, Vicente Yap Sotto, was a Cebu congressman who later on became a senator.

Despite their political bloodline, the “EAT” host told Kim Chiu in a vlog interview that he does not see himself joining the political arena anytime soon.

“Sumagi po ba sa isip niyo na papasok kayo sa pulitika (Has entering politics ever crossed your mind)?” Chiu asked.

“Hindi (No),” Vic responded, rather quickly. “Although si Tito Sen nasa pulitika. ‘Yung isang anak ko nasa pulitika. Pero ako mismo, marami nang nagtanong sa akin kung interesado ako kahit na noong araw pa, even before na makapasok sa pulitika si Tito,” he said, referring to Tito and Vico. (Tito and V are involved in politics. But for me, a lot have asked me if I’m interested, even before Tito entered that industry.)

The veteran actor-host then stressed during the interview that being a public servant doesn’t mean that one should feel inclined to be a politician.

“Sa akin naman, pwede ka namang maging public servant na hindi ka namumulitika. Never kong in-entertain. Okay na akong ‘ra ra boys’ lang, alalay lang, tagakampanya lang (For me, you can be a public servant without being a politician. I never entertained those thoughts. It’s okay for me to be a ra ra boy or help someone involved in it, or just campaign for them),” he said.

During the interview, Vic also chose to not disclose his salary, although he noted that he earns enough money to live a “comfortable life.”

“Sakto lang, komportable lang [ako] sa buhay. Through the years naman, palaki ng palaki ‘yun. Siyempre tumataas din ang standard of living ng mga Pilipino, so sumasabay lang yun. Basta komportable lang (It’s enough, I’m comfortable in life. Through the years, it becomes bigger and bigger. Of course, a Filipino’s standard of living is growing, so it grows along with it. As long as it’s comfortable,” he said.

The “EAT” host made headlines with his wife, actress-host Pauleen Luna, earlier this month, after they revealed that they’re expecting a baby girl.

Sotto and Luna, who tied the knot in January 2016, welcomed their first child Tali in 2017. The couple confirmed the latter’s pregnancy last July of this year. EDV
