Nadine Lustre responds to ‘magsugal’ fan remark: ‘Choice mo ‘yan’

Nadine Lustre seemingly alluded to the criticisms thrown against her for being an online gambling platform ambassador, with the actress saying it’s an individual’s “choice” if they would engage in gambling.

Lustre said this after she asked her followers through her Instagram broadcast channel on Monday, Dec. 2, what their December plans are.

“Magsugal (To gamble),” one netizen responded to Lustre’s question. The actress then replied, “Choice mo ‘yan.” (That’s your choice.)

This came weeks after the actress, who has been using her platform to speak about her advocacies for animal rights, environmental causes and mental health, drew flak for promoting online gambling.

Some lamented how Lustre’s advocacies “are not aligned,” but there were those who came to her defense and urged others to just respect the actress’ hustle. Lustre did not comment on the matter at the time.

Meanwhile, Lustre is set to star in “Uninvited,” an official entry to the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). Also in the cast are screen veterans Vilma Santos, Aga Muhlach, Tirso Cruz III, Mylene Dizon and Lotlot de Leon.

This will also mark Lustre’s comeback to the film festival after bagging the MMFF Best Actress award for her Mikhail Red-helmed psychological thriller “Deleter” in 2022.
